Livni: Peace is More Than a Piece of Paper

(IsraelNN.com) Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni warned Thursday, “It’s possible to fail to achieve peace, or to achieve a failed peace—the price of either is high.”  A successful peace must protect Israel’s fundamental interests, she said in a speech to diplomats at the President’s house in Jerusalem.  “Security is not just an empty concept, and peace is not just a piece of paper,” she added.

Livni called on the international community to respect Israel’s need to avoid a failed peace deal.  “I turn to the world today and say—respect our intention to make peace in the proper way, peace that will not be another stage in the conflict, but will last for generations to come,” she said.
