Ben-Eliezer Urges Speed-Up in Desalination Project

(IsraelNN.com) Infrastructure Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer (Labor) has called for preventing delays in building a new Ashdod desalination facility. He issued the call in response to a court petition by a corporation asking for an injunction suspending current cooperation between the Mekorot National Water Company and private firms participating in the 100-150 million shekel (29-44 million dollar) project.
The minister said that delaying construction of the proposed plant would be a disaster for Israel, and he asked the State Prosecutor to inform the court of the urgency in building the facility.
