Jewish voters would favor Democratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama in a match against Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain, according to a newly released Gallup Poll of 800 Jewish voters, 600 of them Democrats. Sen. McCain previously has been thought to be favored by Jewish voters.

Sixty-one percent of Jewish voters would vote for Sen. Obama and 66 percent for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the general election next November. The poll also showed that Jewish voters favor Sen. Clinton over Sen. Obama as the Democratic nominee in the presidential race.
