An editorial in the Hebrew newspaper Yediot Aharonot Monday stated that the Israeli "has left the flag and symbols of Israel in the hands of those with a nationalist outlook." The article added, "The Left remains with an empty flagpole."

An editorial opinion article in Ma'ariv stated that the biggest challenge facing Israel today is to make the Arab minority accept Israel as a state for the Jewish people. It added, "In the 60th year of its existence, it is important the national leadership not hesitate to make, in a loud voice, remarks similar to those made not long ago by a retired Supreme Court judge in an entirely different context--we will cut off the hands of whoever tries to threaten the destruction of the state of the Jewish People."
