CIA: Syria Was One Year Away from Making Atom Bomb

Syria was less than a year away from being able to produce enough plutonium to build one or two nuclear bombs a year at a nuclear reactor under construction and which Israel bombed last September, revealed Michael Hayden, director of the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He made the statement to students at the Georgetown University in the capital.
He added that the United States kept information about the nuclear reactor secret in order not to provoke Israel to attack Syria. "One has to respect the origin of the information in terms of how it is used," he told the students.
