President Shimon Peres commemorated the 65th anniversary of the uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II on Tuesday morning, laying a wreath at a memorial in the Polish capital together with his counterpart there, Lech Kaczynski.

Hundreds of students, Holocaust survivors and dignitaries attended the event. Ceremonies paying tribute to the heroes of the Ghetto and marking the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel are taking place in the Polish capital all week, culminating on April 19, the eve of the day of Passover.
