A Technion engineering faculty experiment has cut power consumption by 20 percent, Globes reported. Methods used to save power included using the stairs instead of elevators and installing energy-saving light bulbs and automatic turn-off switches.
The savings were estimated at 232,000 shekels ($66,000), and a 20 percent reduction in power consumption throughout the entire campus would reduce outlays by 6.5 million shekels ($1.85 million), although the savings would be reduced by the investment in energy-savings devices.
