The editor of the Saudi online daily Al-Wakad has accused Syria and Iran of “political stupidity,” according to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI). The editor, Mohammed Mansour Al-Amsari, criticized the two countries for trying to frame Saudi officials in the assassination of senior Hizbullah terrorist Imad Mughniyeh.
Al-Amsari said recent reports from Syrian and Iranian sources according to which Saudi security operatives were involved in the assassination were “aimed at evading the results of the ongoing investigation” into the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Al-Hariri. The investigation has implicated Syrian officials in Hariri’s killing.
