Jerusalem Students Protest Nighttime Repairs

(IsraelNN.com) Over 100 students from Hadassah College in Jerusalem protested in downtown Jerusalem early on Tuesday morning.  The students, who live in dormitories near Davidka Square, blocked construction in the street below their building.  Police removed them from the site.

Students explained that they blocked the construction site in protest of the noise created by ongoing work in the area.  The work is done at night in order to allow traffic to continue as usual during the day.  Work often lasts until 5 a.m., the students said, and many are kept awake all night by the noise.  In addition, they said, the work has caused shut-offs of electricity and water.  “Our lives have become insufferable,” one said.
