Hundreds of residents of Har Bracha and neighboring communities have prevented police and Civil Lands Administration forces from trying to halt the placement of new caravan homes in the community. Caravans are similar to trailer homes but are not mobile.No violence was reported.
The Olmert administration has carried out a policy, under pressure from the Bush administration, not to allow any new buildings in Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. It announced on Sunday the approval of more than 4,000 new buildings in the Arab city of Ramallah, located north of Jerusalem and south of the Jewish towns of Beit El and Ofra.
