Israeli troops entered the Khan Yunis area in central Gaza late Monday morning and killed one person, according to Hamas. One other person reportedly was wounded. The IDF has not commented on the report. Both Israel and Hamas have observed a two-day unannounced lull in terrorist attacks and counterterrorist operations.

Egypt has been brokering talks between Hamas and Israel, and a Kuwaiti newspaper reported Monday morning that Hamas was observing an unofficial halt in rocket attacks on the Negev. However, mortar shelling has continued along the Gaza separation barrier.
