A new tape purported to be issued by Al Qaeda terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden warns the European Union (EU) of revenge for the publication of cartoons of the Muslim prophet Mohammed, an act he called a worse crime than Western forces killing women and children. The cartoons were published in a Danish newspaper last year and set off a storm of Muslim protests.
The "reckoning for it will be more severe," he warned. "If there is no check on the freedom of your words, then let your hearts be open to the freedom of our actions." The video was posted on an Al Qaeda website Wednesday and coincided with the fifth anniversary of the war in Iraq.
