McCain, Peres Discuss Iran

United States presidential candidate Senator John McCain met with President Shimon Peres in Jerusalem on Tuesday.  US Senators Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham joined the meeting as well.

McCain told Peres he was concerned by Iran’s support of terrorist groups.  Iran provides such groups with funding and training, he said.  McCain said his concerns had grown during his current trip to the Middle East.

Peres agreed with McCain, and warned that if Iran were to obtain nuclear weapons it would pose a threat to many countries, and not only to Israel.  “The mix of terrorism with nuclear capabilities and irresponsible leadership is a threat to the entire world,” Peres said.
