(IsraelNN.com) The Islamic Jihad terrorist who was killed by army soldiers southwest of Jenin Wednesday morning was released twice by the government and was planning suicide bombings, the IDF said. He was identified as Saleh Amar Saleh Karkoor, 26, who shot at soldiers after he refused their calls that he evacuate the house. The troops returned fire and killed the terrorist. They later found he held an AK-47 Assault Rifle and a number of explosive devices and ammunition clips, which were detonated by sappers.

Karkoor was extremely active in the Islamic Jihad terror organization since the 1990s and was involved in planning suicide bombings. The IDF arrested him 10 years ago but released him shortly later and arrested him again in 2002 following a suicide bombing in Tel Aviv to which he confessed involvement. The government freed him again in 2006 as part of good will measures towards the Palestinian Authority (PA).
