Govt. to Pay Frost Damages to Crops

(IsraelNN.com) Officials in the Finance Ministry and the Agriculture Ministry agreed Sunday to provide a one-time grant to farmers who suffered major losses due to a cold spell in January. The damage done by the cold was estimated at NIS 600 million.
The government will cover up to 20 percent of the damages for farmers who had insurance policies in case of natural disaster, and up to 10 percent for those who did not. A total of no more than NIS 115 million will be set aside for the grants.
