100 Students Rescued from Floods near Ein Gedi

National Park authorities Monday morning rushed to the Ein Gedi area to guide 100 students who were caught in the Ein Gedi stream when flash floods began. The students, from the Ramat Gan community in Greater Tel Aviv, were not injured.

No explanation was reported why the group was hiking in the area despite warnings from the meteorological service that flash floods were expected from rains in the Judean Hills. The rain from the hills rapidly fills mountain streams and the ensuing rapid flow of water can be fatal.
