The European Union will honor International Holocaust Day, taking place Sunday, with a number of ceremonies and commemorations. On Sunday, a delegation of 20 members of the European Parliament, joined by several Knesset members, will visit Auschwitz. On Monday, the European Parliament will hold a special session dedicated to the occasion.
The United Nations General Assembly in 2005 designated January 27 as International Holocaust Day. The date coincides with the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp on January 27th, 1945.
