Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will meet on Sunday to discuss the situation in Gaza, particularly in light of Hamas’s success in breaking through the Egyptian border. The two will talk about ways of controlling Gaza crossings as well. Abbas has suggested that the PA take control of Gaza crossings, but Israeli officials have refused his offer.
The two will also continue to follow the negotiations between Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and PA negotiator Ahmed Qurei (Abu Ala). The content of the negotiations has not been made public, although Livni and Qurei have both said they are discussing “core issues.”
