Israeli doctors have successfully completed the first stage of treatment for a Zambian toddler with a rare skin condition. The toddler, three-year-old Emmanuel, suffers from Harlequin syndrome, a rare skin condition in which important elements of the epidermis are missing. Only two Israeli children suffer from the disease.
Doctors in Haifa’s Rambam hospital treated Emmanuel for three months and released him on Sunday with a six-month supply of medication. Emmanuel and his mother will return to Israel over the summer for additional treatment.
