The Jerusalem District Court convicted Basal Asmar on Monday for his role in the assassination of Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze'evi. Asmar was convicted of murder and membership in a terror organization, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

Ze'evi was murdered outside his room at Jerusalem's Hyatt Hotel (now the Regency) in October, 2001.
