Israel Won't Make a Fuss Over Abu Ala Guard

Israel does not plan to make a public fuss over the fact that the security guard for PA Chief Negotiator Ahmed Qureia (Abu Ala) was involved in terrorist activity. The man, Moatasem Sharif, was killed in a joint operation by the IDF and Shabak near Ramallah Thursday night.

A diplomatic source in Jerusalem told Arutz 7: "Israel has a consistent policy, according to which - whoever is involved in terror, we act against him, negotiations notwithstanding. If someone is involved in trying to murder Israelis, we will do all we can to prevent it, and it makes no difference what he does in his spare time," the source added. The source would not say whether the matter would be raised by Livni in her talks with Abu Ala.

According to an IDF source quoted in Maariv, Sharif was wanted for activity in the Fatah/Tanzim terror group. He was involved in supplying weapons to active terrorists in the Ramallah region. He opened fired at an IDF force that came to arrest him and was then killed. Abu Ala is Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni's regular partner in "peace" negotiations.
