Ran Erez, head of the Secondary School Teachers' Association, told reporters Thursday that "For the first time since the establishment of the State we have accomplished something positive for every single person in Israel."

Erez appeared at an informal news conference together with Education Minister Yuli Tamir and Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On following the meeting at which an agreement between the government and the teachers got its final stamp of approval.

"We are looking at making classes smaller, returning cut class hours to the week, implementing a substantial salary increase for teachers and giving teachers back their salaries for the period they were on strike," he announced. "We have achieved all the aims we fought for."
