Four Jews being attacked on a NYC subway car Friday night were defended by a 20-year-old Muslim college student, giving one of the victims time to summon police. The four friends were attacked by 10 people on a Brooklyn-bound train after responding "Happy Chanukah" to them as the group yelled "Merry Christmas."
Hassan Askari said he was doing what he thought was right by trying to fight off the attackers, and was allegedly punched and beaten along with the Jews.
Eight men and two women have been arrested in connection with the attack, which may be charged as a hate crime.
