Israel to Make Weisenthal Stamp

The Knesset Committee for Symbols and Ceremonies decided Tuesday to create a stamp commemorating Simon Weisenthal.  Weisenthal, a survivor of the Nazi death camps, dedicated his life to tracking down Nazis and bringing them to justice, as well as documenting the crimes committed during the Holocaust.

The committee also decided to create stamps in honor of Israel’s 60th Independence Day celebrations.  Members said they would establish a public committee to decide which citizens should light ceremonial torches as part of state celebrations.
