Students, Teachers Protest in Tel Aviv

High school students and teachers protested in Tel Aviv on Thursday in a show of support for the Secondary School Teachers Association, which has been on strike for over a month.  Hundreds of students from around the country took part in a protest in Tel Aviv, and several threw tomatoes at the Education Ministry.  Some students called on Education Minister Yuli Tamir to work for a solution to the ongoing strike, while others called on her to quit.

Three female teachers rappelled from a bridge in Tel Aviv on Thursday while holding a sign saying, “[Prime Minister Ehud] Olmert is Hanging the Teachers.”  The three were stopped and questioned by local police.
