Police said Thursday that Druze rioters in the village of Peki’in had known in advance that police were planning to make arrests. One official said there was no other reason for hundreds of people to have gathered in the area in which arrests were to be made early in the morning. Police have evidence to support the theory that someone tipped off the villagers, a senior police officer told Walla.
The source said that police were investigating to see if Druze officers had passed information on to the villagers in advance of the operation. He added that Druze officers are “an important part of the police force,” and that the incident should not be interpreted as racial.
