Under the headline "World Owes Israel," the Edmonton, Alberta Sun journalist Peter Worthington wrote that Israel's unconfirmed strike last month on a nuclear site in northern Syria may have prevented World War III. "If people had known how close we came to World War III ... there'd have been mass panic," he quoted an unnamed senior British ministerial source.
Worthington noted that North Korea, which has been aiding Iran and apparently helped it start to build a nuclear reactor, was the only country outside of Syria to complain about the strike. "North Korea's comments are persuasive evidence that the air attack was justified," he said.
"As for WW III, [it is] unlikely, so long as Israel remains vigilant," he concluded.
