U.S. Anti-Ballistic Test a Success

A test of an anti-ballistic missile interceptor in Hawaii Friday was a success, U.S. officials said. The THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) system hit and destroyed an incoming rocket while it was still in the upper atmosphere.

Israeli officials were present at the test, and Israel has been seeking information on the new system, in order to equip Israel's Hetz (Arrow) anti-missile system with the highly accurate THAAD system. U.S. sources say that Washington is considering selling the system to Israel, and the sale could be authorized in 2009.
