Abbas in Indonesia: It All Depends on Armistice Line

Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has told a  conference in Indonesia that Muslim countries can establish diplomatic relations with Israel "if--and it is a big if--Israel withdraws" from what he called "Arab and Palestinian lands" that were not restored to Israel after the 1949 Armistice Lines were drawn until the Six-Day War in 1967.

He again called for talks with Israel based on the American Roadmap plan despite his demand, which the United States and Israel has accepted, for a detour of a principal Roadmap clause that calls for temporary borders for a new Arab state.

Abbas is in Indonesia for a conference that is to be attended by 12 Arab countries, G8 and United Nations Security Council members, South Africa and several other South American and European countries.
