The soldier who was killed by terrorists in central Gaza Wednesday morning has been identified as 20-year-old Sergeant Ben Koavni of Hadera. He was a member of the Golani unit that killed one terrorist and three others in response to the firing of an anti-tank shell.

He was hit by terrorists as he crossed narrow lanes in a house-to-house search for terrorists, 15 of whom were arrested. A helicopter rushed him to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva, but he died en route.

The unit has wrapped up its counter-terrorist operation and has withdrawn from the area.
