(IsraelNN.com) Rabbinical leaders of the hareidi religious community are calling for a mass protest Thursday against a government plan to divide Jerusalem and give up half of the city to the Palestinian Authority.

The demonstration, to be called “Over Jerusalem They Cast Lots” is organized by Rabbi Avigdor Nebenzahl, Chief Rabbi of the Old City, and Rabbi Eliyahu Medina. It will be held at the Rambam Synagogue in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, the leader of the Lithuanian hareidi religious world in Israel and in many communities abroad, issued a “kol koreh” instructing Jews to gather to vehemently protest the plan.
