The North American-based Nefesh B’Nefesh aliyah organization is expanding its recruitment campaign to bring new immigrants to Israel. The organization has reportedly been approached by leaders of several Jewish communities in Latin America for assistance with bringing Jews to Israel.
“These requests are being examined, but it should be noted that the organization’s main work is in North America and the U.K.,” said a statement by the NBN organization.
Nefesh B’Nefesh is one of two private nonprofit aliyah organizations approved for government funding by the cabinet last month, creating new competition for the Jewish Agency, which previously controlled all immigration recruitment efforts. Nefesh B’Nefesh has been largely responsible for a 90 percent increase in aliyah by North American Jews over the past five years.
