J'lem Closed to Cars Because of Funeral

Jerusalem Police have closed off the city's entrances to private cars because of heavy traffic congestion caused by the funeral procession of Rabbi Avraham Elkana Shapira z"l.

An estimate carried by Ynet says that 25,000 people arrived at the funeral gathering outside Merkaz Harav yeshiva in Kiryat Moshe. The funeral is now proceeding toward the Mount of Olives.

The police are also on high alert because of Muslim prayers on the third Friday of the month of Ramadan. They estimate 75,000 people participated in the Muslim prayers on the Temple Mount.
