Bush Slams U.N. Human Rights Council

U.S. President George W. Bush slammed the United Nations Human Rights Council in his speech to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday.

Bush accused the Geneva-based agency of a bias against Israel, saying it focuses its criticism on Israel for human rights violations but ignores those perpetrated in other countries.

The American president also charged the U.N. itself with leveling unfair criticism against Israel, urged member nations to “stand up for the people suffering under dictatorship” and to unite “the people of Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iraq [who] have asked for our help.”
