Far left-wing politician Yossi Sarid is considering a run for mayor of Tel Aviv. His task would be to unseat current mayor Ron Huldai. Sarid says he will make the decision in January.
Yossi Sarid retired as leader of the far-left Meretz party a year and a half ago after failing to boost his party beyond the five seats it has had for the past decade. He claims “many” right wing and religious voters say they would support him in his bid. The Tel Aviv mayoral race is scheduled for November 11, 2008.
