Residents of Modi'in, situated to the north and west of Jerusalem, have not had public transportation to and from the city for the past week. The severe problems began after a new bus company, Connex, took over from a company called Margalit.
Margalit had operated lines to and from Modi'in but did not have solutions for intracity transport.
Connex has experience operating bus lines in Ashdod and Tverya (Tiberias) and was supposed to offer internal lines too, but it is having problems making things work. Ynet reported that some outgoing buses do not arrive at all, and others arrive up to 90 minutes late. Connex has announced that all bus services in Modi'in will be offered free until the problems are resolved.
