Fatah, Hamas on the Road to a Deal Reported: 01:59 AM - Aug/05/07
(IsraelNN.com) Among the things the Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has demanded from Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas in return for the numerous “gestures” he has granted Abbas, such as the release of hundreds of terrorists from Israeli prisons, is a promise that he will keep his Fatah terror group separate from the Hamas terror group – including preventing Hamas from joining the government being run by Abbas appointee Salem Fayyed.
But according to a report by PA news agency Ma'an “contact and dialog have been established” between Hamas and Fatah, as well as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in order to work towards reestablishing a unifed PA government. According to the report, Hamas and Fatah will work to unify each other's security forces, with Hamas' Executive Force to be “absorbed” into the PA police.
