Adelson's Israel Today Freebie Gets High Marks

American billionaire Sheldon Adelson's new Israel Today free daily newspaper made its first appearance Tuesday morning and won high marks from experts. Dr. Tzviki Reich, of the Ben Gurion University's communications department, noted that the experienced staff includes veterans from other newspapers and that its layout is good.

Approximately 150,000 copies were distributed at bus and train stations and other public places. The newspaper's business news is supplied by Globes, which said it might advertise in the newspaper. However, sources said that the advertising rates in Israel Today are three times higher than in the Israeli, another free newspaper with which Adelson is competing.
