Abbas: Bush Pushing for PA State Before Retiring

Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said that he personally heard American President George W. Bush say that he wants to see the establishment of a new Arab state within Israel before his second term ends in January, 2009. American will elect a new president in November, 2008, leaving a two-month "lame duck" period in which the President can work without worrying about winning or losing votes in the election.

"I heard it with my own ears from President Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice," Abbas said.
