The Prime Minister's Office said Friday that that the planned reduction of the financial assistance to new olim (immigrants) will not take place. According to earlier news reports, the Finance Ministry was planning a 20% cut in the assistance package to olim known as the Absorption Basket ('sal klita').
The news reports also said that assistance to high-quality immigrant scientists would be cancelled. This report has not been contradicted.
