Canada will renew aid to the Palestinian Authority with a payment of eight million dollars. Another million will be given to the Red Cross in Gaza, Judea, and Samaria.
Canada cut off aid to the PA when the PA was under the joint control of Hamas and Fatah. Canadian Foreign Minister Peter MacKay explained Monday that the aid would be renewed because the PA’s current Fatah leadership had agreed that the PA was obligated to put an end to violence and recognize Israel.
