Vice Premier Chaim Ramon met with Quartet envoy and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Monday evening. Ramon told Blair that Israel should withdraw from 60-70% of Judea and Samaria. Ramon also said that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert would begin negotiating with the Palestinian Authority in the near future.
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni met with Blair as well. Livni discussed the possible creation of a separate state in Judea and Samaria, which would be ruled by the Palestinian Authority. Such a state can only come into being if the PA fights terrorism, builds a stable infrastructure, and accepts international law, she said. She added that the international community must avoid giving legitimacy to Hamas.
