The caption of the Friday editorial in the leftist organ Ha'aretz is "A Racist Jewish State." The editorial blasts the Knesset for adopting a law that allows the leasing of Jewish National Fund (JNF) lands for the exclusive purpose of settling Jews. Ha'aretz says: "This bill reflects an abasement of the Zionist enterprise to lows never imagined in the Declaration of Independence." The law, it claims, will allow for "further expressions of discrimination, "such as "the establishment of a university only for Jews on JNF land, or a hospital, or a movie theater."
Ha'aretz lauds the Supreme Court for its decision in the Ka'adan case several years ago, in which it ruled that the Jewish Agency may not be used to sell government owned land to Jews. "In an instant, a racist Knesset can overturn [the court's] rulings," the editorial lamented.
Ha'aretz fails to mention that the Ka'adan court case was part of a multi-pronged, well planned and financed demographic, legal and psychological attack by Arab nationalist radicals on the community of Katzir in 1996, a project known as "the conquest of Katzir" by its instigators.
