Livni: No Need for Olmert Resignation

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said Wednesday that there was no reason for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to resign because of the State Comptroller's report on the mishandling of the home front during the Second Lebanon War.

"I do not think the prime minister has to resign," said Livni in a news conference she held with European Union Foreign Affairs Chief Javier Solana. "The government's role is to fix what needs fixing," she added.

Livni said that the government "has already done things about taking care of the home front, and the Defense Ministry has taken responsibility for the matter."
