New Traffic Law: Three Strikes and You're Out

According to a new law, a driver who is convicted of three or more serious traffic offenses within a period of 15 years will lose his driver's license permanently, unless a court decides to be lenient with him due to special circumstances.

The law was proposed by MK Gilad Erdan (Likud) and was approved Wednesday by the Economic Affairs Committee.

"We can no longer stand the fact that drivers involved in serious road accidents are later found to have a rich past of serious traffic offenses," explained Erdan.
