The Knesset’s Finance Committee approved a medical care budget of NIS 451,000 for former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Tuesday. The Prime Minister’s Office had asked the committee to approve the expense, but did not specify what exactly the money would be used for.
Ariel Sharon suffered a massive stroke in 2006 and fell into a coma. Doctors say he is in a persistent vegetative state with little chance of recovery. He has been hospitalized in Tel Hashomer for more than a year and a half.
