"Aleph from the President's Residence," who is the central witness in the media's version of former President Moshe Katzav's sexual misdeeds (but who was dropped from the Prosecution's version), has admitted to having an affair with President Katzav's driver.

IDF Radio reported Sunday morning that Aleph admitted in her police testimony that she had an extended affair with the driver. She also admitted that the driver used to call her from the phone at the Presidential Residence.

Katzav's lawyers claim that this is the explanation for the numerous phone calls made from the Presidential Residence and the President's car phone to Aleph. Aleph's lawyers presented evidence to the High Court which shows that 689 phone calls were made to Aleph's home from Katzav's home, official residence and car, and claimed this was proof of his obsession with her. Katzav's lawyers now claim that Aleph was trying to mislead the court, and that she knew that many of the calls were made by the driver and not by the President.
