National Union Knesset Member Aryeh Eldad said Sunday that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's plan to grant amnesty to Arab terrorists "is a mixture of a criminal spin and sheer stupidity." MK Eldad told Independent Media Review and Analysis (IMRA), "We tried this idea many times in the past, and it always exploded in our face."
He cited previous efforts to ease up on terrorists, dating back to allowing Yasser Arafat to enter the country from Tunis on the premise that he would fight other terrorists.
"We tried to create 'the villages unions' in the early 70's in order to fight Arafat and the PLO [Palestinian Liberation Organization]. Now we try again, to support Abu Mazen to fight Hamas," MK Eldad added.
"Olmert knows all that; that is why his spin is criminal. He knows that most of the Jews that were murdered during the second Intifada" were killed by Fatah-aligned Tanzim and Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades.
