Bush Praises Israeli Democracy as Model for Iraq

American President George W. Bush Thursday cited Israel as an example where democracy has overcome terrorism and declared that is his goal in Iraq. He said in a speech, designed to counter growing opposition to the war in Iraq from within his own Republican party, that democracy in Iraq will help bring about "a dawn of a Middle East where leaders are at peace with their own people."

Referring to Israel, the President said that the Jewish state's democracy and anti-terrorist activities are the same indicators he is expecting in Iraq.
