Canada was the only of 47 United Nations Human Rights Council members that opposed a resolution singling out Israel for violations of human rights. B'nai Brith Canada lauded the government for its "outspoken and steadfast commitment to the Council's ideals of universality, impartiality and objectivity."

The organization's vice president Frank Dimant said that passage of the resolution, which did not refer to violations in other countries, "has conclusively demonstrated that the Human Rights Council has been effectively hijacked to further an agenda with no goal other than vilifying the Jewish state."
